They went out of their way (even searching on the weekend when they were technically closed) to find a replacement transmission for our 2000 Pontiac Montana. When they couldn't find one, they rebuilt ours in a day. DJ was exceptionally kind.

DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! I went here to get my transmission fixed as well as my tires. Don, the owner, put the WRONG lug nuts on my car with the incorrect key. I tried calling him to fix and he was EXTREMELY rude to me and said "I can't help you. You are wrong" before hanging up on me. I took to TWO car shops who told me the lug nuts are not the ones for my Lexus. Now I have to pay $150 to get his mistake fixed. DO NOT GO HERE. Horrible customer service.

I want to thank the guys at western transmission for their great work on my MBZ 300 TDT, after dealing with another shop that couldn't figure out the problem with it, I took it to them, they explained in detail what can be the problem, and 2 days later my car is up and running, very good buy the way, and saved me a lot of money while at it...
If you want honesty and knowledge, this is the place to go, I would never consider any other place for any transmission related issues ever!!!! just go straight to western transmission!!!!!

DON'T TAKE YOUR CAR HERE. I had a transmission fluid leak a while back. Shady creepy Don way over charged and the fluid still leaks. This place is a SCAM.

NEVER TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!
I called on the phone to ask how much it would be to rebuild the transmission on an old dodge mini van.
I was quoted $900 for a 3 speed and $1200 for a 4 speed.
When I drove there the place was a MAJOR DIVE.Very disorganized and filthy Beyond description.
(Very scary neighborhood)
There was a guy about 90 Year old man (Don)sitting in there cave of an office.
I told him I needed a rebuilt tranny.
He then told me a rebuilt tranny for my 98 mini van would cost $2100!!
THAT IS $900 more than the 5 estimates I've already gotten and almost twice the price I was quoted by his company the same day on the phone.
The place was so disorganize I almost didn't walk in.

Don and the guys are awesome!! They diagnosed a wierd sound my car was making at no charge and gave me a great price on the repair!! The work is great quality! Highly recommend them!! Great costumer service and awesome jobs on the repairs!!

Where do I begin. Don from the moment I called was up front with pricing and type of work they did there at the shop. He told me what the least amount expected was for parts and labor and what the worst case scenario could be but he would try his best to do it for as cheap as possible. I had gone to two different mechanics one turned out to be a clown because he "took it to a friend who fixed transmissions" when that mechanic was a transmission mechanic. That was when I decided to go to Don after about a two weeks my car was running smooth with no problems. It has already been 3000 miles and my car still runs like a champ. I will definitely recommend my friends and family to Don. When I picked up my car his mechanic showed me everything he did and showed me the old replaced parts. He also answered all my questions. Thank you Don for your professionalism.

After the cool experience I had with them, I told a neighbor about the shop. He had an intermittent transmission slipping problem. They let him know it was just a little low in transmission fluid, but since it was a little dirty, he have them put in new fluid.
We were both lucky it was simpler than we thought. But if it were something serious, I don't know of a better place to have things done. And we both wish we had gone there sooner. Too many people just put it off, then it can get much worse, and cost a whole lot more. :(

Nice guys. But Aweful work. I have took my 1967 Pontiac Firebird to them to rebuild my transmission. After paying almost $2000 in December I have had to return it to them 4 times for the same leak. Their workmanship is unacceptable. And now that I have asked for my money back they are only willing to replace the already broken Transmission that they couldn't figure out how to fix. Do not go to this shop unless you want to have to go back multiple times, because they didn't fix the problem the first time. And if you do go make sure that Don the owner gives you EVERYTHING in writing, you will need it when you take him to court.

Don is amazing. He does a very good work with transmission. I had a problem with my subaru cluctch and gave out resulting damage to the input shaft housing. Don is a little crancky, but i guess that's because of old age. I would recomment this guy and place!!

I want to give a big thanks to Don and the guys at Western Transmissions.My 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis needed a Transmission rebuild.I brought it in and they got right on it and had it diagnosed and then rebuilt in just a couple of days.My Transmission shifts very smooth like new.Don went above and beyond to take care of me and make sure my car was repaired right the first time.If you are looking for a great shop for Transmission work just come here first.They do things the old fashioned way and take care of the customer.Thanks for taking care of me and my Merc you have a customer for life!!!

These guys are great: Jack was very helpful and kept me up to date on the status of my job.
The first time I came in, he didnt charge me for a diagnostic. These guys are out there looking to do things right, not get all the money they can from you. They care about working with their customers and are great!

Here is a little story, I recently changed out the exhaust to my car. I started getting so many CEL codes and I had no idea where to start. I searched the internet and found Western Transmissions. This was a god send.
I had called in and spoke to Jack... it was little later during the day around 5 pm and well it was too late for me to even try and do anything. After speaking to Jack he told me to come in the following morning, I went there around 830 am.
Jack came out pulled out the obd2 scanner, scanned my codes looked over my car and just went through the basic things when trying to diagnose a car with a problem He noticed a few of my vacuum lines weren't being held with clamps he was kind enough to give me some and even installed them himself.
The problem with my car was my catalytic converters he gave me some advice and since the car is new he obviously told me to take to the dealer and have it checked by them.
I can express the gratitude and appreciation that I have for Jack. He isn't one of those "dirty mechanics" you can tell that he has been in the business for many years and has a lot of experience under his belt. He is calm, collected, and trustworthy. When my car is out of warranty I will definitely come to him for my car troubles.
How do I know he is honest and trustworthy?..... He did this for free!!... and he denied me giving him anything for his troubles! I tried to give him $20 for 10 minutes of his time and he wouldn't have it. What a great man.

My transmission was shot, and I wasn't sure where to turn. A friend recommended a shop that has been in the neighborhood forever (which is usually a good sign.) I brought my truck into Western Transmissions and they were helpful, friendly, and the price was really reasonable. They even referred me to a shop down the street for a worn tire, and called that shop to let them know I was coming and kind of in a hurry. The older gentlemen in the office are hilarious! Great service and work.

Best Tranny Shop in LA! Hands down! I have traveled all the way from the San Fernando Valley to have this shop take care of the transmission and rear end on several of my cars over the years! Highly recommended!
