I took my 2006 Jeep Liberty to the guys over at Colorado Axle and Gear and Al and his team are absolutely amazing! My Jeep had a popping noise in the rear axle and they diagnosed the issue within a couple hours of dropping it off and gave me a call letting me know what was going on. When they told me the issue they told me that the only way it could occur was through and accident (which happened to be from two years prior). As i was unsure how to proceed with the insurance co... I had taken my Suburban into the dealership where I not only purchased the vehicle, but the extended warranty as well. About 4 months into having the truck, I took it in for an oil change and they told me that there was a crack in the front dif and that it needed to be repaired asap. The warranty of course said that they wouldn't take care of it and the dealer took a look and said that it would be a $4300 fix. We looked around and found Colorado Axle and Gear. Not only was Al... Prompt, thorough, and friendly service. Traveling from Oklahoma to British Columbia I heard an unsettling noise in my Dodge Van just outside of Denver, I got a quote from a general mechanic to rebuild the rear dif and was told it would take five days. Not excited about that estimate I did a quick search and made a phone call to Al and he was able to fit me in the next day, and ended up sending me away with the van singing the same afternoon -at a third the cost of the genera... Al is the only place I'll ever or ever have taken my jeep for axle work. I look forward to many more years of business with him can't beat his work or prices.

Al is the most friendly and easy to work business owner ever! He is a 1st class act and he has great prices too. Trust me I spent thousands of dollars with him. I trust his word and his work! Don't go anywhere else or you're an idiot. Go see Al and Colorado Axle and Gear!

Most excellent service. Al diagnosed the noise in my 04 Avalanche in just a couple of minutes. Gave me a best and worst case quote that was several hundred dollars under anyone else I've talked to. Dropped the truck off this morning and a few hours later the truck was fixed for exactly the lower amount he quoted. He then let me test drive the truck to make sure I was happy with the repair. The noise had grown so gradually I did not realize how bad it really was. I drove home in silence for the first time in weeks.

I was looking to regear my Jeep JKU and had been given a quote from another local shop. Perfectly, I just happened to be working next door to CAG and decided to pop in and see what their quote looked like. I'd never heard of this shop, but it couldn't have worked out better. Not only was CAG's quote 30% less than the other shop's, but Al actually discussed things at length with me and offered insight into why a lower gearset might actually better suit my goals.
Parts came in basically overnight, and Al actually waited on me to get my Jeep to them. No pushing back my appointment, no bellyaching, nothing. Al and his guy got my 5.13s thrown in in the span of about five hours. Having done automotive maintenance for years, I've seen firsthand drop-off tune ups and brake jobs get procrastinated on and pushed back for two days, unfortunately. But CAG were professionals and didn't play around. They got front and rear gears and a front carrier done quicker than most shops will do a simple rear ring and pinion.
Awesome price, awesome service, fast, you name it. Go here if you're doing driveline repairs/upgrades.

This review is long overdue, but in the spring of this year my wife's AWD Trailblazer SS had some drivetrain noise that I suspected was coming from the front differential.
Al made a quick appointment for me, put the car on his lift, diagnosed that it was indeed from the front differential, and made a price estimate to rebuild it.
Within a day or two he had the front diff torn rebuilt, and the final cost was lower than the initial quote he gave. I really appreciate his approach in this regard - i.e. giving the "worst case" estimate initially.
In summary, Al was courteous, efficient, quick, professional, and totally reasonable in price. He will be my first call without any hesitation if I need drivetrain work again in the future. Highly recommend!
P.S. the Trailblazer SS is driving great still.

Colorado Axle and Gear is a very fine establishment! Al took good care of me and my rear axle and was very fair. I would recommend anyone who needs axle work on their vehicle to give Al a call!! When everything seems hopeless, and one may feel like giving up and just going out to find another vehicle to replace the one they have, Al gives you hope and a vary fair price!! Thanks Al!!

These guys are the best gear guys around. If they can't fix it they never charged me and the bill is always lower then he quoted. Don't even think about going anywhere else. Not even those ridiculous franchise dealers. He even takes the time to explain what is going on by showing you with his examples in the showroom.

Excellent work replacing the bearings in my Jeep Liberty's rear diff. A previous mechanic said I had to replace the whole rear axle and quoted a ridiculous price. I knew it wasn't right and Al quoted me less than half the price and it was ready at the end of the day. Drives great now.

Al & Jeff are AWESOME!!! I went to a shop 2 blocks from me and was given poor customer service and charged $50 for a quote after I told them what my problem was. The mechanic there told me it was a track bar when it clearly wasn't. Had to point that out to him...as well as tell them what axle I had. Talked to Al over the phone and explained my situation and he quoted me on the spot. Brought it in and took him and Jeff 1.5 days to complete the job (2.5 days faster than anyone else said). They gave me a great price and Al even went out of his way to get me a key for my locking lug nuts (which I didn't know I had cause I just bought my rig)! Customer service: 10+, Price: 10, Quality (from what I know): 10, Location: 4 (far from me but way worth it!!!). Over-all experience: 10 and telling anyone who needs axle work to go see Al!! Like I told Al & Jeff, I hope I never see them again, but if I do I'm glad I know they are working on my '02 Grand Cherokee off-road rig!! Thanks guys, you were freakin' awesome!!
**Edit**
Also talked to Al about the famous Jeep "Death Wobble" and he gave me some good advice as well as a good alignment shop for it. Helpin' out after gettin' paid means a lot to me!

When they told me the issue they told me that the only way it could occur was through and accident (which happened to be from two years prior). As i was unsure how to proceed with the insurance company that dealt with the accident long ago Al walked me through the entire process telling me the steps i should take to talk to the insurance company and that i should absolutely pursue them paying for the damages. After I talked with them they sent someone to his shop and he dealt with them for an hour and a half explaining to them that the damage was absolutely from the accident two years ago despite them trying to deny that it was their issue to deal with. All in all he was able to show them that the damage was due to the accident, kept my car for an entire week without a single complaint, talked me through every step of the process with an amazing attitude and outlook, and was able to fully fix my car with the money provided by the insurance company. If you're looking for an honest trustworthy mechanic who will not rip you off but give a fair deal for fantastic work this is the place for you. Thank you Al and the rest of the team at Colorado Axle and Gear you guys are amazing!

We would absolutely recommend anyone with these sorts of issues use this company and cant even express how grateful we are for their fast, friendly, efficient service.
