It isn't easy finding an honest mechanic who is excellent at his job. Your Choice Automotive has both! There is no other place I would take my vehicle to for maintenance and repair. Excellent pricing and no high pressure sales!

I dont usually write reviews of services, even if theyre pretty good. Ill definitely say something if I have a horrible experience, but I tend to forget to share my thoughts on local businesses that do great work. But today I had another excellent reminder as to why its so important to have a good mechanic. We having been bringing our vehicles to Travis since he opened up his shop on West Main. I drove by one day and saw he was opening soon and we needed a trusting mechanic so decided to give Travis a chance. We have been coming to Your Choice Automotive ever since. His prices are reasonable, does awesome work and Travis will never do unnecessary work on a vehicle.

Just had the valve stem with tire pressure monitoring system replaced on one of our tires. Travis also checked on why the check engine light came on periodically and gave very sound advice on how to handle the problem. Other places would have made it sound dire and that it had to be done NOW. We really appreciate his honesty!

It is so hard to find a trusted mechanic and shop especially being new to the area! Travis helped me as I was broken down on a side street and since I've never looked for another mechanic or have disappointed. His affordable pricing is just icing! Highly recommended!!

My experience at Your Choice Automotive was great! I had just moved to the O'fallon area after graduating college. I didn't know of any mechanics in the area so I went strictly off of the positive Google reviews I had read on here. I was more than pleased to deal with the guys that worked there. They were super helpful and understanding. They gave me a decent quote on parts and labor. After the quote I went to my uncle who owns a parts store and got a discount on the parts and took it into Your Choice Automotive. They still held true to their quote on the labor despite losing out on a percentage of the parts costs. The work they did on my car was good in my eyes(I'm no mechanic) and my car is running good again! I have certainly found a mechanic that I can trust and those are not easy to come by. Thanks Your Choice Automotive!

Your Choice Automotive is great! Travis is the best and most honest mechanic I have ever met. I liked that he didn't try to make money on the parts and charged a fair price for his labor. The office staff was very courteous and friendly too. To me, the most important characteristics in a mechanic are that they are knowledgeable and honest. Travis and his staff are both! Thank you Your Choice Automotive. I recommend them to all my friends and relatives.

Horrible service!!!!! Made me feel like a dick for coming here and disturbing his peace... He took forever, didn't have filter or oil on hand, he tried to tell me that my oil was going to cost 50 bucks till I called him out since I know how much it costs... He didn't clean out my oil screen and he spilled oil all over my engine when he was filling it back up. Talked down to me and was a real hassle never come here!!!!

One of the hardest things to find is a good mechanic. Everyone I know has a story of a shop trying to overcharge them or sell them things they don't need. Those high pressure salesmen and condescending attitudes are rampant in the industry.
If you are looking for a place unlike the rest and that defies the stereotypes, it is YOUR CHOICE AUTOMOTIVE! The difference? It's run by Travis Forsythe who is genuinely honest, down to earth, and truly exemplifies great customer service. He takes the time to look at your vehicle, explains to you what you need and what you can wait to get done, and gives the fairest price every time! He even lets you bring in your own parts if you don't want to buy through him. He isn't trying to make a quick buck. He is trying to build a business based on referrals, happy customers, and repeat business.
I urge you to take your vehicle here and see the difference. You will be pleasantly surprised. And it feels good knowing you are supporting a family owned and operated business instead of one of those big chains that try to stick you every chance they get.

I don't regularly write reviews, even if I have a pretty good experience. I'll definitely say something if I have a horrible experience, but I tend to forget to share my thoughts on local businesses that do great work. But today I had another excellent reminder as to why it's so important to have a good mechanic.
The tl;dr version of this post is that if your car breaks down, you should definitely take your car to Travis at Your Choice Automotive near Lindenwood University. You can't help but like the guy, and he's honest, helpful and nice in a Paul Rudd kind of way.
Whenever something goes wrong with my car, the low grade panic sets in. I'm not mechanically-inclined, so I have to rely on someone else to not only know what's wrong, but be able to fix it. And since I'm not an expert, it can be nerve-wracking to try to figure out if I'm getting ripped off or not.
We all know the horror stories of mechanics fixing what didn't need to be fixed or charging exorbitant rates to the desperate and ignorant (e.g., me). It's easy to get taken advantage of and in the past I would stress about it.
Not anymore.
We started going to Your Choice Automotive for the $20 oil changes with tire rotation. Whenever we had car trouble, we brought it to Travis and he took care of it quickly and charged what seemed a reasonable rate.
Having a 2006 Subaru Outback and a 2004 Honda Civic Hybrid, there's been an increasing amount of car trouble to deal with.
There was the time I took the Honda to a dealership and they diagnosed $6,000 worth of problems (and yeah, I know dealerships are the most expensive, but it was an emergency). I gave the dealer report to Travis and he walked me through which issues we needed to fix now (the slave cylinder) and which could wait. In the end, he got us back up and running the next day for around $320*, which
rates as the low-end of the average parts and labor cost.
Fast forward a few weeks later and I need my brakes changed. Easy, right? So, I tell Travis and he suggests I look for the brakes and rotors on my own to save money. And indeed, AutoZone saved me about $60 off Travis's parts quote. After we dropped it off, he had our car a day longer than expected because he had a family emergency and he gave us a $10 discount*, I guess because he felt bad. I can't say I've ever had a mechanic act so genuinely apologetic for a minor delay.
Now, both of these anecdotes are solid enough to give your business to Your Choice Automotive, but they aren't the reason I felt compelled to write this. It was only after I got off the phone with Travis this afternoon that I decided to share my experience with our local mechanic.
Two weeks ago our Subaru's "Check Engine" light suddenly began flashing and the engine spluttered. Somehow I made it home, but I called Travis on the way. He thought it was misfiring, whatever that means. So, we drop the car off and he replaces a coil and, I think, a spark plug. It sets us back a tidy sum of our vacation funds and, worse yet, it didn't fix the problem.
Oh crap, right?
We bring it back last Thursday night and we get a call from Travis on Friday. He's been investigating it for a while and has narrowed it down to an electrical problem and he needs to keep it until Monday. Fair enough.
Today (Monday), he tells me that it's either faulty wiring to the computer or (worst case scenario) the computer itself, which caused the coil to fail (if I'm remembering his explanation correctly). He replaces the wiring and drives it for a half hour. The problem is ostensibly solved, which we will find out for sure when we pick up the car tomorrow morning.
But what blows my mind about the whole encounter is that he tells me he's only charging us 80-something dollars* for all the time he spent investigating the problem and fixing it. What the hell is this dark magic? An honest mechanic who does nice things for his customers when the Car Gods crap on them? GTFOH!
You always hear about people who have a "good mechanic" and how rare that is. Well, if you're in the Belleville/O'Fallon/Fairview Heights area, then you need to do yourself a favor and contact Travis the next time your car breaks down. You can't do much better whether you're worried about your wallet or your peace of mind.
*The financial details given reflect my own experience and is in no way saying that Your Choice Automotive will give you a discount. I have no clue if he does this for other customers, so I do not want to misrepresent his pricing policies.

This shop is great! It's so nice to find a shop that you can trust. The owner is extremely knowledgable and goes over everything with you. I wouldn't trust our vehicle with anyone else!

HONEST VERY HONEST Travis just fixed my brakes this week. He told what was and wasn't wrong with my vehicle. He saved me $2000 over what Dobbs dishonest staff tried to charge me
